Ozzy Bagno

BCMB PhD Student

Ozzy (he/him) received his B.S. in Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology and a minor in Bioinformatics from UC Santa Cruz. It was there that he developed a passion for RNA and nematode biology while studying the mechanisms of pre-mRNA splice site selection in Al Zahler’s lab. Currently, he is interested in how the essential microRNA miR-35 controls precise gene regulation during C. elegans oogenesis and embryogenesis. Outside of lab, Ozzy enjoys playing and watching various sports such as volleyball, baseball (go Giants!), basketball, and rock climbing, in addition to being a father to two cats.
