Lo-Yu Chang
Lo-Yu is a PhD student in the Biochemistry, Cellular and Molecular Biology (BCMB) program. Having graduated from National Taiwan University in Taiwan with double majors in medicine and geoscience, and possessing diverse interests ranging from evolutionary biology to clinical medicine, he was attracted by the awesomeness of the Cochella lab. His research path took an unexpected turn; he is now starting over as a novice molecular biologist. Lo-Yu’s current research project aims to understand the role of miR-1, a highly conserved microRNA, in regulating the physiology of muscle cells from worms to mammals. Outside the lab, Lo-Yu enjoys cooking Taiwanese cuisine (albeit with varying degrees of success), taking whatever transit he can find (it’s hard to be a railfan in the US), and enjoying chill time with his wife.
