Dr. (!!!) Ariane Mandlbauer, seen here in her graduation hat made with love (if not necessarily artistic talent) by her labmates, gave her Ph.D. seminar earlier this month. She shared the impressive work she’s done investigating the miRNA layer of regulation in mammalian cells. Watch out for her next paper on Argonautes!
Last Friday, Megan and Ozzy were officially “coated” as PhD candidates since they passed their doctoral board exam last November! Luisa came to support.
And everyone presented a poster (even Luisa)! We had a great time at Rockefeller sharing our enthusiasm for RNA with our NY (and surrounding area) colleagues.

Congrats to Megan on her GRFP! This award will support her thesis work investigating how transcription factors and chromatin collaborate to repress a particular miRNA during worm development.
After many years of hard work, a move across the Atlantic Ocean, and persistence, Emilio has earned his PhD! Stay tuned for his paper, which has become a beautiful functional interrogation of a miRNA.
